Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as BLUEWATER defeated OTTAWA in a shootout 2-1 (2-0 SO). The two teams needed four turns to complete the shootout. BLUEWATER also got a shootout goal from Lauren Lefler (C).The win by BLUEWATER clinched the best of five series at 3-0. BLUEWATER came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. BLUEWATER was down 1-0 after a goal by OTTAWA's Amanda Titus (A) at 5:56 in the second period. BLUEWATER knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Krystin Lawrence at 3:19 in the third period. BLUEWATER was led by goalie Carley Molnar, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Molnar will actually see her goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.38 entering the contest. BLUEWATER forced OTTAWA goalie Tanya Winchcombe to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. BLUEWATER did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Lefler (C) and Morgan McCann, who contributed one a piece. Other players who recorded assists for OTTAWA were Stacy Galasso and Rebecca Leslie (C), who each chipped in one. BLUEWATER registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. OTTAWA's Winchcombe stopped 41 shots out of the 42 that she faced. OTTAWA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
