STONEY CREEK uses shootout to best CAMBRIDGE, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as STONEY CREEK defeated CAMBRIDGE in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, CAMBRIDGE faces elimination next time out.

STONEY CREEK overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. STONEY CREEK was down 2-1 after a goal by CAMBRIDGE's Rachel Holden at 6:34 in the third period. STONEY CREEK tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Rosie Heffernan (A)away) at 8:04 in the third period.

STONEY CREEK made CAMBRIDGE's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 31 shots and forcing 28 saves. Lauren Webber made 28 stops and Julia Vandyk made zero. STONEY CREEK excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

STONEY CREEK was helped by Sarah Quaranta (A)home), who registered one goal. Quaranta (A)home) scored 11:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK. Sarah Olsen assisted on the tally. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Sarah Hine, Paige Jackson, and Kristin ONeill, who each chipped in one.

CAMBRIDGE was helped by Shannon Pearson, who tallied one goal. Pearson scored 3:27 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Julia Schnurr provided the assist. More assists for CAMBRIDGE came via Morgan Rolph and Amanda McClure (C), who contributed one a piece.

Taylor Cook rejected 23 shots on goal for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. CAMBRIDGE incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
