Whitby falls to Trenton in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Bobby Polachek gave the Trenton Golden Hawks a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Whitby Fury when he scored 5:27 into the extra period.

The win moved Trenton to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Danny Liscio had a great game for the Golden Hawks, netting two goals. Liscio's tallies came at 12:09 into the second period to make the score 4-4 and 18:46 into the third to make the score 5-5.

Trenton additionally got points from Zach de Concilys, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trenton also had goals scored by Dylan Savory and Hunter Fargey, who each put in one. In addition, Trenton received assists from Tyler Donaldson, who had two and Tyler Mayea, Fabrizio Ricci, Jason Zaleski, Tyler Sehovic, and Ryan Kinsella, who contributed one each.

Whitby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Trenton to score on any of its three power plays.

The Fury were led by Ryan Kirkup, who registered one goal and two assists. Kirkup scored 18:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Patrick McAuliffe picked up the assist. Others who scored for Whitby included Marcus Crawford, Jeff Murray, Greg Milner, and Marco Azzano, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Mitch Emerson, who had two and Mike Panowyk, Henry Thompson, and Adam Clements, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Hawks took out Connor Hughes after he had made nine saves and installed Denny Dubblestyne in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the win. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brian Hurlimann was ejected from the game. Tyler Feaver rejected 23 shots on goal for Whitby. The Fury incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
