Whitby rips Trenton, 7-1Iroquois - Rink#1 Wed, Feb 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury were firing on all cylinders against the Trenton Golden Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Fury emerged with a 7-1 win. The win gave Whitby a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Fury were led by goalie Tyler Feaver, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Feaver will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.96. Whitby's offense was sparked by Taylor Best, as he ended with four assists in a victory against Trenton. The Fury forced Golden Hawks' netminders to work without much rest, getting 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Denny Dubblestyne made 16 stops and Connor Hughes made nine. Whitby stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Whitby additionally got points from Mike Panowyk, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Greg Milner, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Whitby included Ryan Kirkup, who had two and Henry Thompson and Jeremy Wu, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Connor Hale, Jeff Murray, Adam Clements, Sean Darroch, and Dakota Kettrick, who each chipped in one. Trenton was led by Bobby Polachek, who scored the team's only goal. Polachek scored 16:28 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. Zach de Concilys assisted on the tally. The Fury incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Golden Hawks incurred 56 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors.
