Cobourg beats Wellington 3-0 as Perry gains shutout

Nathan Perry made 32 saves to complete the shutout and led the Cobourg Cougars to a 3-0 win against the Wellington Dukes.

The win by Cobourg clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Cougars were led by Liam Grande, who racked up one goal and one assist. Grande scored 13 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Connor Armour provided the assist.

Cobourg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Wellington power plays.

Others who scored for Cobourg included TJ Melancon and Mitchell Gibson, who each put in one. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Jake Emilio, who had two and Landon Schiller and Kenzie Smith, who contributed one each.

Wellington's offense rang up 32 shots on the Cougars' net.

Cobourg totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For the Cougars, Theo Lewis was ejected from the game. Tyson Teichmann rejected 21 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
