Toronto falls to Toronto Lakeshore after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Junior Canadiens.

Toronto Lakeshore let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Patriots took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Jacob Hayhurst at 18:26 in the first period. Toronto Lakeshore went down 3-1 after Toronto's Connor Prudames put the puck home at 4:31 in the third period. After evening things up at 3-3 on a goal by Nathan Feric at 8:36 in the third, the Patriots got the game-winner from Rory Bell at 11:31 in the third period.

The win gave Toronto Lakeshore a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Patriots were sparked by Bell, who tallied one goal.

Toronto Lakeshore stifled the Junior Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots kept Toronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Bullion made 36 saves on 40 shots.

Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Hayhurst, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Marcus Rose, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Tyler Enns, Luke Carter, Doug Bonar, Nicholas Ursitti, and Kevin Shier, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Toronto was helped by Michael Cuddemi, who registered one goal. Cuddemi scored 1:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Spivak provided the assist. Aaron Thow also scored for Toronto. In addition, Toronto received assists from Anthony Repaci, who had two and Cody Thompson and Nicholas Jarzabek, who contributed one each.

Evan Buitenhuis rejected 25 shots on goal for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Junior Canadiens registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
