MISSISSAUGA uses shootout to best TORONTO, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as MISSISSAUGA defeated TORONTO in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

The win gave MISSISSAUGA a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

MISSISSAUGA came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. MISSISSAUGA fell behind 1-0 after a goal by TORONTO's Mackenzie MacNeil at 9:13 in the second period. MISSISSAUGA knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Ashley Rothon at 6:06 in the third period.

TORONTO was stymied by MISSISSAUGA's netminder Amelia Boughn, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. Boughn managed to improve on her goals against average, which stood at 1.25 prior to the game.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five TORONTO power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Stephanie Sucharda, who had one.

MISSISSAUGA was unable to stop TORONTO from sending pucks towards the net, and TORONTO eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

More assists for TORONTO came via Breanne Wilson-Bennett (C-home) and Lauren Wildfang (C-away), who contributed one each.

MISSISSAUGA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. TORONTO's Sarah Stephens stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that she faced. TORONTO incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
