STONEY CREEK survives penalties, beats BRAMPTON, 2-1

BRAMPTON failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and STONEY CREEK shook off a number of penalties to win, 2-1.

The win gave STONEY CREEK a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

STONEY CREEK was led by Sarah Quaranta (A)home), who registered one goal and one assist. Quaranta (A)home) scored 9:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 STONEY CREEK. Sara Habal provided the assist.

STONEY CREEK got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its 11 chances.

Madison Field (A)home) also scored for STONEY CREEK. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Rosie Heffernan (A)away) and Madison Brown (A)away), who each chipped in one.

BRAMPTON stifled STONEY CREEK's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. BRAMPTON's offense was handcuffed by STONEY CREEK's defensive play, and BRAMPTON managed only 13 shots on goal during the game.

BRAMPTON was led by Christina Ieradi (A), who scored the team's only goal. Ieradi (A) scored 14:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Isabella Triolo assisted on the tally.

Taylor Cook made 12 saves for STONEY CREEK on 13 shots. STONEY CREEK incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Isabelle Hunter took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Katie Bidulka who made nine saves. BRAMPTON incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
