DURHAM WEST outlasts BLUEWATER, 3-2

DURHAM WEST gutted out a close 3-2 win against BLUEWATER.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Victoria Bugg (A)'s goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win gave DURHAM WEST a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

DURHAM WEST was led by Bugg (A), who racked up one goal. Bugg (A) scored 17:42 into the third period to make the score 3-2 DURHAM WEST. Claire Balas assisted on the tally.

DURHAM WEST's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three BLUEWATER power plays.

DURHAM WEST additionally got points from Alysha Burriss, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. DURHAM WEST also got a goal from Kennedy Marchment (C) as well. Other players who recorded assists for DURHAM WEST were Megan Quinn (A-home), who had one.

DURHAM WEST was unable to stop BLUEWATER from sending pucks towards the net, and BLUEWATER eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

BLUEWATER was helped by Taylor Philip (A), who grabbed one goal. Philip (A) scored 10:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 BLUEWATER. Shailyn Waites picked up the assist. Bradey Couwenberg also scored for BLUEWATER. More assists for BLUEWATER came via Lauren Lefler (C), who had one.

DURHAM WEST's Stephanie Sluys stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that she faced. DURHAM WEST incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Molly Jenkins rejected 14 shots on goal for BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
