Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, DURHAM WEST battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over WHITBY. DURHAM WEST never led in the game until netting the game winner. DURHAM WEST fell behind 2-0 after a goal by WHITBY's Jaime Grigsby at 7:40 in the first period. DURHAM WEST tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Kennedy Marchment (C) at 10:13 in the second period. DURHAM WEST scored the game winner at 6:04 in the third period on a goal by Marchment (C). The win gave DURHAM WEST a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. DURHAM WEST was paced by Victoria Bugg (A), who registered one goal. DURHAM WEST put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WHITBY to score on any of its three power plays. DURHAM WEST also got a goal from Hayley Flynn as well. More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Erin Hunt (PU), Alysha Burriss, and Becki Bowering, who each chipped in one. CJ Tipping also scored for WHITBY.
