Dunnville survives Hagersville comeback, wins 4-2

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Hagersville Hawks, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Dunnville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jr. Mudcats' Hayden Molen's scored at 12:40 in the third period to put Dunnville up 4-1.

The win by the Jr. Mudcats clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

Dunnville was paced by Jeff May, who registered one goal. May scored 18:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Landon Minor picked up the assist.

The Jr. Mudcats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Dunnville's offense rang up 41 shots on Hagersville's net.

Dunnville also got points from Mack Steele, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jordan Bolibrook, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Trevor Smith, who had two.

The Hawks kept the Jr. Mudcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Rosettani made 40 saves on 42 shots.

Hagersville was helped by Aleck Boyd, who finished with one goal. Boyd scored short handed 1:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dunnville. The Hawks found themselves down a man on Kyle Phibbs's tripping. Hagersville additionally got points from Derek Medeiros, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hagersville also got a goal from Cole Martin as well. More assists for Hagersville came via Derek Friesen, who had one.

Dunnville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ian Sylves made 37 saves for Hagersville on 41 shots. The Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
