Smith lifts Lambeth over Port Stanley, 7-2

Behind a great game by Tanner Smith, who had two goals, the Lambeth Lancers defeated the Port Stanley Sailors, 7-2.

Smith's tallies came at 17:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lambeth and 9:01 into the second to make the score 3-1 Lambeth.

The win gave Lambeth a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Lancers forced Sailors' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 57 shots and forcing 50 saves. Ricky Corkum made 24 stops and Aiden Brown made 26.

Lambeth additionally got points from Trevor Daynes, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Warren Hargraves, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Lambeth included Josh Bumpus, Mike Golinowski, and Matt Schurr, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lambeth received assists from Cody Wuytenburg, who had one, Ryan Pennington, who had three, and Brandon Robbins and Mitch Furlonger, who each chipped in two.

Port Stanley was led by Tyson Corkum, who had one goal. Corkum scored 2:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. Dalton Good assisted on the tally. Alex Weaver also scored for Port Stanley. More assists for Port Stanley came via Anders Adzija and Tyler Beaulieu, who contributed one a piece.

JP Trudell recorded 23 saves for Lambeth. The Lancers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Lambeth, Randy Hicks was ejected from the game. The Sailors incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Port Stanley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Woolley was ejected from the game.
