Picton rolls over Campbellford, 4-1

The Picton Pirates were firing on all cylinders against the Campbellford Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Pirates emerged with a 4-1 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Campbellford faces elimination next time out.

Brian Bunnett was all over the ice for Picton, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Bunnett scored 18:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Picton. Evan Greer picked up the assist.

The Pirates were led by goalie Adam Wood, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Wood managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.25 prior to the game.

Picton stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Campbellford was unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Picton additionally got points from Kenny Murduff, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Chris Jones and Griffin McCarty, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Brandon Peever and Garrett Nichol, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Campbellford's offense rang up 34 shots on the Pirates' net.

The Rebels were led by Jon Samis, who scored the team's only goal. Samis scored 11:12 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Picton. Cole Hamilton assisted on the tally.

Picton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Pirates, Taylor Brown and Corey Prince were ejected from the contest. Cole Mahoney recorded 31 saves for Campbellford. The Rebels incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
