Amherstview erases deficit to stun Port Hope, 3-2

The Amherstview Jets rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Port Hope Panthers.

Amherstview never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Jets was down 2-0 after a goal by Port Hope's Tyler Davey at 17:30 in the first period. Amherstview tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jordan Howe at 9:07 in the second period. The Jets got the game winner at 18:42 in the third period on a goal by Howe.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Panthers face elimination next time out.

Zach Masterson had a great game for Amherstview, netting two goals.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Hope to score on any of its four power plays. Amherstview's offense rang up 41 shots on the Panthers' net.

Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Cody Jodoin and Dustin Kennedy, who each chipped in one.

Port Hope forced the Jets goalie James DAndrea to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

The Panthers were helped by Dan Lagrois, who racked up one goal. Lagrois scored 8:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Chandler Gillespie picked up the assist. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Tanner Bowditch and Scott Ferguson, who contributed one a piece.

James DAndrea made 43 saves for Amherstview on 45 shots. The Jets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Branson Schell rejected 38 shots on goal for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
