Fullerton's goals lift Amherstview to 6-3 victory over Port Hope

The Amherstview Jets relied on the scoring touch of Andrew Fullerton, who netted four goals, to beat the Port Hope Panthers, 6-3.

Fullerton notched his first tally 5:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 40 seconds into the second, at 6:33 into the second, and at 14:52 into the second.

The win gave Amherstview a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Jets' penalty kill excelled, as Amherstview gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Jets forced Port Hope's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Branson Schell made 25 stops and Josh Cole made five. Amherstview was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on 17 chances. The Jets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Amherstview also had goals scored by Brett Yake and Mark Christensen, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Adam Shulist, who had two and Jesse Stone, Ryan Poirier, Isaac Desousa APM, Brody Taylor, and Adam Alcorn, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers' offense rang up 52 shots on Amherstview's net.

James DAndrea made 49 saves for the Jets on 52 shots. Amherstview incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Port Hope incurred 52 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors. For the Panthers, Ryan Wilkinson was ejected from the game.
