Amherstview rides DAndrea to victory over Port Hope, 4-1

The Amherstview Jets relied on the sparkling performance of James DAndrea in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Port Hope Panthers.

The win gave Amherstview a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Jets got the win thanks to a great game by Cassidy Bruni, who had two goals and one assist. Bruni scored the first of his two goals at 15:34 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview. Andrew Fullerton assisted on the tally. Bruni's next tally made the score 3-0 Amherstview with 18:03 left in the third period. Amherstview had gained a power play chance when Tyler Jennings was whistled for interference. Jesse Stone provided the assist.

The Jets forced Port Hope goalie Josh Cole to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Amherstview also got points from Brett Yake, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Fullerton, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. More assists for Amherstview came via Dustin Kennedy, who had two.

The Panthers were led by Dan Lagrois, who scored the team's only goal. Lagrois scored on the power play 5:42 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Amherstview. Port Hope earned a power play opportunity when Ben Bianco was put in the box for tripping. Chandler Gillespie assisted on the tally.

DAndrea rejected 26 shots on goal for Amherstview. The Jets incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Josh Cole made 33 saves for the Panthers on 37 shots. Port Hope incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
