Campbellford completes comeback, beats Picton, 6-5Prince Edward Sun, Feb 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Campbellford Rebels rallied from two goals down to secure a 6-5 win over the Picton Pirates. Campbellford let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Rebels took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Cole Hamilton at 3:00 in the first period. Campbellford went down 4-2 after Picton's Kenny Murduff put the puck home at 7:15 in the second period. After evening things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Andrew Doxtator at 16:50 in the third, the Rebels got the game-winner from Jeremiah Doherty at 19:26 in the third period. The win moved Campbellford to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. Hamilton was all over the ice for the Rebels, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Campbellford's penalty kill unit could not stop the Pirates' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Campbellford also got points from Doxtator, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Doherty, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Jon Samis as well. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Ryan Crowley, who had four and William Lameroux, Brad Jacklin, and TJ Patterson, who contributed one a piece. Picton was led by Brian Bunnett, who registered two goals. Bunnett scored the first of his two goals at 5:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Wil Healey picked up the assist. Bunnett's next tally made the score 2-1 Picton with 7:27 left in the first period. The Pirates had taken the advantage when the Rebels' Doxtator got sent off for cross checking. Jack Davison provided the assist. Others who scored for Picton included Steven Clarke and Brandon Peever, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Ryan Sizer, who had two and Evan Greer, Matt Whidden, and Chris Jones, who each chipped in one. Campbellford's Cole Mahoney stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Rebels incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Adam Wood rejected 23 shots on goal for Picton. The Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
