Norwich falls to Paris in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Zack Skubnik gave the Paris Mounties a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Norwich Merchants when he scored 6:29 into the extra period.

The win gave Paris a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Mounties overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Paris fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Norwich's Mitchell Berzins at 22 seconds in the second period. The Mounties tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Daniel Puglise at 1:35 in the third period.

Paris pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The defensemen of the Mounties were also effective in the Merchants' zone, and came away with two goals.

Brodie Smith also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Clayton Chalmers, who had two and Mitchell Harvey, Matthew Small, and Ian Fowler, who contributed one a piece.

Norwich excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Paris was unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Norwich eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Merchants were helped by Drake Morrell, who racked up one goal and one assist. Morrell scored 13:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norwich. Berzins provided the assist. Norwich additionally got points from Berzins, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Norwich received assists from Brandon Zimmermann, who had two.

Zach Shompe made 33 saves for the Mounties on 35 shots. Norwich's Patrick Maziarz stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Merchants incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
