The Belle River Canadiens used a sparkling performance by Mitch Topliffe to take down the Blenheim Blades, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Belle River's 3-0 shutout victory. The win by the Canadiens clinched the best of seven series at 4-2. Belle River was led by Kody Gagnon, who finished with one goal. Gagnon scored 6:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Belle River. Sebastian Kanally assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:34 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Belle River also had goals scored by Kyle Gagnon and Brenden Crundwell, who each put in one. More assists for Belle River came via Brad Carroll, Guy Levesque, Mike Ditty, Tyler Turner, and Zack Bedard, who each chipped in one. Blenheim excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Mitch Topliffe made 27 saves for the Canadiens on 27 shots. Belle River ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. For the Canadiens, Connor Goodchild was ejected from the game. Eric Stewardson recorded 25 saves for the Blades. Blenheim totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kellen Kaniecki was ejected from the game. |
