Clarington beats Uxbridge 7-3 as Burghardt gets hat trick

Mitchell Burghardt netted a hat trick to lead the Clarington Eagles over the Uxbridge Bruins, 7-3.

Burghardt's first goal came 8:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:57 into the first and at 5:55 into the second.

The win by Clarington broke a deadlock and gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Clarington also got points from Mackenzie Morissette, who also had one goal and one assist and Jarod Hollister, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Clarington included Austin Collins and Cody Kean, who each put in one. In addition, Clarington received assists from Brent Hambly, who had two and Brad Down, Rory Craddock, and Jesse Hewak, who contributed one a piece.

Uxbridge kept Clarington's goalie busy throughout the game, and CJ Sharp made 34 saves on 37 shots.

The Bruins were helped by Jarett Smith, who registered one goal. Smith scored 4:42 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Matt Allen picked up the assist. Uxbridge additionally got points from Allen, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also got a goal from Tyson Eastgate as well. More assists for Uxbridge came via Matt Pollard, who had one and Carter Vahey and Connor Beck, who contributed two a piece.

The Eagles totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For Clarington, Burghardt was ejected from the game. Cody Northover took the loss and made nine saves before being replaced by Max Tjin who made 10 saves. Uxbridge incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
