Uxbridge downs Clarington in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Garnet B. Rickard Rec Complex Wed, Feb 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Clarington Eagles on a clutch goal by Adam Bartholomew. The win gave Uxbridge a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Bartholomew had two goals to lead the Bruins to victory. Bartholomew scored at 3:55 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 2:24 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Uxbridge. Uxbridge stifled Clarington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Uxbridge also got a goal from Jeremy Toupin as well. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Korey Brand, Marco Mastrangelo, and Tim Bierema, who contributed one a piece. The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Uxbridge was unable to stop Clarington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Clarington was helped by Jesse Hewak, who racked up one goal. Hewak scored 15:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. Cole Murray provided the assist. Mackenzie Morissette also scored for Clarington. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Chris Turner and Thomas Garrity, who each chipped in one. The Bruins' Cody Northover stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Uxbridge incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. CJ Sharp rejected 19 shots on goal for the Eagles. Clarington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
