Traverse City Hounds rolls over Soo Firehawks, 5-1

Traverse City Hounds had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over Soo Firehawks.

The win by Traverse City Hounds clinched the best of three series at 2-1.

Soo Firehawks was stymied by Traverse City Hounds' netminder David Krejcik, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Krejcik will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.34.

Traverse City Hounds pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 34 penalty minutes.

Traverse City Hounds' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 11 Soo Firehawks power plays.

Traverse City Hounds was helped by Cam Fisher, who finished with one goal. Fisher scored short handed 16:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds was on a disadvantage when Scott Luca went off the ice for tripping. Kevin Hansen picked up the assist. Traverse City Hounds also got points from Premysl Synek, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Traverse City Hounds also had goals scored by Austin Flores, Patrick Rogowski, and Josh Smith, who each put in one. More assists for Traverse City Hounds came via Tyler Thirlby, who had one and Jacob Gillis, who had two.

Soo Firehawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Soo Firehawks was led by Kevin Killips, who scored the team's only goal. Killips scored 14:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cody Anderson assisted on the tally.

Anthony Benvenuti made 24 saves for Soo Firehawks on 29 shots. Soo Firehawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
