Brisbane Goannas beats Sydney Sirens 5-4 after comeback scare

Sydney Sirens tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Brisbane Goannas would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

A goal by Teresa Moriarty put Brisbane Goannas up 5-3 in the third period, but Sydney Sirens pulled to within one on Sharna Godfrey's tally 12:47 into the third period.

Brisbane Goannas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Brisbane Goannas ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. Brisbane Goannas found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Brisbane Goannas has scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Brisbane Goannas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.8 shot per game it averages.

Brisbane Goannas also got points from Jemma Wallace, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brisbane Goannas also got a goal from Hannah Westbrook as well.
