Kincardine falls to Walkerton in overtime, 8-7 (OT)

The Walkerton Hawks' Drew Davidson scored 26 seconds into overtime to beat the Kincardine Bulldogs, 8-7 (OT).

The win by Walkerton clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Hawks overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Walkerton fell behind 5-2 after a goal by Kincardine's Brett Catto at 2:53 in the second period. The Hawks tied things up at 7-7 on a goal by Cody Britton at 14:32 in the third period.

Brandon Lamothe had a great game for Walkerton, netting two goals. Lamothe found the back of the net 3:40 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Kincardine and again while 9:20 into the second to make the score 5-4 Kincardine.

The Hawks kept the Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Campbell made 42 saves on 50 shots.

Walkerton also got points from Davidson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Calvin Penney, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Walkerton also had goals scored by Chris Gillman, David Gallo, Lauchlin Elder, and Brett Coulson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Ryan Hamelin, who had one and Jordan Turcotte, Tyler Snyder, and Jay Thomson, who each chipped in two.

Kincardine forced Hawks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Jake Ireland made 16 stops and Trevor Fleming made eight.

Kincardine additionally got points from Catto, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Kincardine included Brandon Priestap, Tanner Simpson, and Sam Feagan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Shawn Moore, who had two and Matt Baker, Dalton Hnatko, and Mike Smailes, who contributed one a piece.

Walkerton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Bulldogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
