The Walkerton Hawks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Kincardine Bulldogs on the way to an 8-7 win. A goal by Tyler Snyder put Walkerton up 8-6 in the third period, but Kincardine pulled to within one on Brett Catto's tally 18:58 into the third period. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Bulldogs face elimination next time out. Lauchlin Elder was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Elder scored the first of his two goals at 3:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Walkerton. Elder's next tally made the score 2-2 with 11:00 left in the first period. Drew Davidson provided the assist. Walkerton made Kincardine's goalies to work all game long, getting 32 shots and forcing 24 saves. Mitch Campbell made 11 stops and Paul Boyadjian made 13. The Hawks stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Walkerton additionally got points from Snyder, who also had one goal and two assists, Jay Thomson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Calvin Penney, who also registered two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Walkerton included Jordan Turcotte and Ryan Hamelin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Brett Coulson, who had two and Nathan Kramer and Austin Russell, who contributed one a piece. Kincardine also got points from Tanner Simpson, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Cody Britton, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Kincardine also got a goal from Sam Feagan as well. More assists for Kincardine came via Brandon Priestap, who had one and Dalton Hnatko, who had two. Trevor Fleming rejected 15 shots on goal for Walkerton. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kincardine incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
