Landon Minor had one goal and two assists to lead the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats to a 5-2 victory over the Hagersville Hawks. Minor beat Matt Murphy with a shot 19:08 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Dunnville. Aleck Boyd dished an assist on Derek Medeiros's goal that made the score 3-2 Dunnville at 12:55 into the third period.The win gave Dunnville a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. In a losing effort, Hagersville was paced by Boyd, who had two goals and one assist. Boyd scored the first of his two goals at 19:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Boyd's next tally made the score 3-3 with 2:08 left in the third period. Kyle Phibbs provided the assist. The Jr. Mudcats forced Hawks' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Murphy made nine stops and Ian Sylves made 24. Dunnville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Dunnville also got points from Mack Steele, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dunnville included Evan Capobianco, Jeff May, and Tyler Springer, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Dan Arrowsmith, who had two and Austin Golding, Steven Czepek, and Jordan Bolibrook, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Mudcats were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hagersville eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Hagersville additionally got points from Medeiros, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Josh Rosettani made 32 saves for Dunnville on 34 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dunnville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bret Golding was ejected from the game. The Hawks totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Hagersville, Brad Hornby was ejected from the game.
