Wintjes' big game bests Gatineau Mustangs in 6-3 Ottawa West Golden Knights win

Eric Wintjes was all over the ice for Ottawa West Golden Knights, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Ottawa West Golden Knights' 6-3 win over Gatineau Mustangs.

Wintjes scored on the power play 13:33 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa West Golden Knights. A tripping penalty on Justin-Claude Bissonnette had put Ottawa West Golden Knights on the power play. Derrin Lehoux provided the assist. Wintjes dished an assist on Dave Kilrea's goal that made the score 5-3 Ottawa West Golden Knights at 10:21 into the third period. He added another helper on Zac Rodier's goal that made the score 6-3 Ottawa West Golden Knights at 18:06 into the third period.

The win by Ottawa West Golden Knights broke a deadlock and gave Ottawa West Golden Knights a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Ottawa West Golden Knights excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Ottawa West Golden Knights' offense rang up 31 shots on Gatineau Mustangs' net. The defensemen of Ottawa West Golden Knights were also effective in Gatineau Mustangs' zone, and came away with two goals.

Ottawa West Golden Knights also got points from Rodier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kilrea, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ottawa West Golden Knights also had goals scored by Corey Waddell-Harris, Jack Kilrea, and Jeff Gottzmann, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa West Golden Knights were Chris Deschamps and Brandon Lee, who contributed one a piece and Phil Edgar and Cody Kyle, who each chipped in two.

Ottawa West Golden Knights' starting goalie, Eric Plumadore, made 23 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of JJ Pristanski, who stopped zero shots. Ottawa West Golden Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jean-Philippe Giroux made 25 saves for Gatineau Mustangs on 31 shots. Gatineau Mustangs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
