Wisconsin shrugs off penalties, upends Battle Creek, 7-1

The Wisconsin Whalers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Battle Creek Revolution's power play opportunities and emerged with a 7-1 victory.

Wisconsin was led by D.J. Mussey, who racked up one goal and one assist. Mussey scored short handed 3:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wisconsin. The Whalers were on a disadvantage when Mitch Riese went off the ice for cross checking. Ryan Martin picked up the assist.

Battle Creek was unable to stop Wisconsin from sending pucks towards the net, and the Whalers eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Wisconsin outdid its season average for goals scored. The Whalers have scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Wisconsin cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on six chances.

Wisconsin also got points from Connor Morgan, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Jason Hoehn, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wisconsin included Kaleb Morley, who had two and Jon Skarlis and Dan Addie, who each put in one. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Alex Anderson, who had two, Easton Halbert, who had three, and Kevin Stone and Tim Tarvis, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Lewis made 14 saves for the Whalers on 15 shots. Wisconsin incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Zach Kooi rejected 48 shots on goal for the Revolution. Battle Creek incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
