Manley nets hat trick, leads Lakefield to 5-3 win over Port Perry

Derek Manley lifted the Lakefield Chiefs to a 5-3 victory with a hat trick against the Port Perry Mojacks.

Manley's first goal came 19:41 into the second period. He then added goals at 8:39 into the third and at 19:59 into the third.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Port Perry faces elimination next time out.

Lakefield's penalty kill excelled, as the Chiefs gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Lakefield stifled the Mojacks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chiefs forced Port Perry goalie Drew Siydock to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Lakefield additionally got points from Eric Shewell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Devin Gilbert as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Connor Blair, who had three and Bryce Sweeting, William Sullivan, Keenan Runnalls, and Eric Oosting, who each chipped in one.

The Mojacks were led by Logan Evans, who finished with two goals and one assist. Evans scored the first of his two goals at 1:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Perry. Brodie Myers provided the assist. Evans' next tally made the score 3-2 Port Perry with 14:55 left in the third period. Port Perry was on a disadvantage when Jeff St. Pierre went off the ice for high sticking. Lee Taylor assisted on the tally. Port Perry also got points from Myers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Cody Gibson, who had one.

Zach Wainman made 25 saves for Lakefield on 28 shots. The Chiefs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Siydock rejected 30 shots on goal for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
