Lakefield survives Port Perry comeback, wins 4-2Scugog Memorial Arena Thu, Feb 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lakefield Chiefs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Port Perry Mojacks on the way to a 4-2 win. Lakefield took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Port Perry storm back on a Lucas Clark goal 16:10 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The win gave the Chiefs a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Lakefield got the win with help from a great game by Bryce Sweeting, who had one goal and two assists. Sweeting scored 2:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Lakefield also had goals scored by Devin Gilbert, Travis Brault, and Derek Manley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Eric Shewell and Eric Oosting, who each chipped in one. The Mojacks stifled the Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Owen Bateman also scored for Port Perry. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Logan Evans, Eric MacDonald, and Jeff St. Pierre, who contributed one a piece. Zach Wainman recorded 24 saves for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Drew Siydock took the loss and made 20 saves before being replaced by Jeff Julien who made three saves. Port Perry incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
