Ayr rolls over Burford, 7-3

The Ayr Centennials were firing on all cylinders against the Burford Bulldogs, and when the final buzzer sounded Centennials emerged with a 7-3 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Burford faces elimination next time out.

Jeff Howlett had one goal and two assists to lead Ayr. Howlett scored 2:36 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Ayr. Andrew Richard provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 1:47 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Centennials forced the Bulldogs' goalies to work all game long, getting 37 shots and forcing 30 saves. Riley Edwards made 17 stops and Nick Trask made 13.

Ayr also got points from Anthony Pullia, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brendan Schaefer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ayr also had goals scored by Adam Fisher, Eric Hackborn, Logan Beechey, and Riley Clipper, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ayr came via Mac Kemp, Ben Poort, Brett Gibson, and Connor MacLean, who each chipped in one.

Burford was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 15 man advantages.

Mitch Figueirdo made 25 saves for Ayr on 28 shots. The Centennials totaled 94 minutes in penalty time with 17 minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Team's Fisher, Connor Voigt, Hackborn, and Beechey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Bulldogs ended with 68 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors and two majors. For Burford, Branden Hill and Kolby Francis were ejected from the contest.
