Cole leads Port Hope to shutout victory over Deseronto

The Port Hope Panthers used a sparkling performance by Josh Cole to take down the Deseronto Storm, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Port Hope's 5-0 shutout victory.

The Panthers were paced by Tanner Bowditch, who tallied one goal. Bowditch scored 11:36 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Port Hope. Tyler Jennings picked up the assist.

Port Hope excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Panthers kept Deseronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brock Tufts made 55 saves on 60 shots.

Port Hope also got points from Jacob Spicer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Dan Lagrois, who also had one goal and one assist. Port Hope also had goals scored by Jared Boomhower and Ryan Wilkinson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Hope came via Dylan Baxter, who had two and Brandon Durst, Tyler Davey, Chandler Gillespie, Brandon Baks, and Mike Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Hope to score on any of its four power plays. Deseronto's offense rang up 35 shots on the Panthers' net.

Josh Cole made 35 saves for Port Hope on 35 shots. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Storm incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
