Mount Forest falls to Hanover in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Hanover Barons' Wendel Cameron scored 3:09 into overtime to beat the Mount Forest Patriots, 5-4 (OT).

Hanover evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

Tyson Soers had two goals to lead the Barons to victory. Soers' tallies came at 19:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hanover and 11:19 into the second to make the score 3-1 Hanover.

Mount Forest was unable to stop Hanover from sending pucks towards the net, and the Barons eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Hanover also had goals scored by Justin D Graham and Jarrett Kuntz, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hanover came via Brad Pitt, who had two and Brodie Lemay(AP), Denver Hill, Brandon Eagles, and Josh Steffler, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hanover to score on any of its four power plays. Mount Forest forced the Barons goalie Ben Errington to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

The Patriots were helped by Ben Davis, who registered one goal. Davis scored on the power play 19:42 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Mount Forest earned a power play opportunity when Pitt was put in the box for interference. Luke Richardson assisted on the tally. Mount Forest additionally got points from Richardson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Dean Nixon, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nathan Woodard also scored for Mount Forest. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Cody Wright, who had two and Justin Graham, Doug Costanzo, and Trevor Hughson, who contributed one a piece.

Errington recorded 41 saves for Hanover. The Barons incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Patriots' John Nixon stopped 28 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Mount Forest incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
