Chalmers' hat trick boosts Paris over Delhi, 9-1

Clayton Chalmers netted a hat trick to lead the Paris Mounties over the Delhi Travellers, 9-1.

Chalmers' first goal came 3:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 51 seconds into the second and at 1:54 into the second.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Delhi faces elimination next time out.

Paris scored early and often, and held a 5-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Travellers fell victim to a deadly the Mounties power play, which ripped Delhi for four goals.

Paris excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Mounties kept the Travellers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Heath made 38 saves on 47 shots.

Paris additionally got points from Brian Mueller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Graham Kitching, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Richard Brooks, who also finished with two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Scott Sippel, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Ian Fowler, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Paris received assists from Matthew Small, who had three, Brett Banks and Mitchell Harvey, who each chipped in one, and Jacob Norcott and Daniel Puglise, who contributed two a piece.

Jarvis Haigh made seven saves before being replaced by Zach Shompe, who took the win and made 16 saves. Paris incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Delhi incurred 72 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors.
