Delhi holds on for 7-5 win against Paris

The Paris Mounties tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Delhi Travellers held on for a 7-5 victory.

Delhi made the score 7-3 on a goal by Kyle Eggleston at 7:34 in the third period, and Paris got as close as 7-5 when Merrit Crumback scored 11:46 into the third period.

With the win, the Travellers evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Delhi was led by Michael Thomlison, who had three goals and two assists. Delhi also got points from Mike DeCoene, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Brad Ward also scored for Delhi. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Brendan Schreider, who had two, New Player and Taylor Hockley, who each chipped in one, and Mick Finn-Dunn and Kelsey Vanyermen, who contributed three a piece.

The Mounties made Travellers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 42 shots and forcing 37 saves. Nick Heath made 34 stops and Jordan Ironside made three.

Paris was led by Ian Fowler, who tallied two goals and one assist. Fowler scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Paris. The Mounties had taken the advantage when the Travellers' Ward got sent off for hooking. Brodie Smith picked up the assist. Fowler's next tally on the power play made the score 7-4 Delhi with 10:44 left in the third period. Paris had gotten the advantage when Delhi's Thomlison was sent off for slashing. Brady Wheelans provided the assist. Others who scored for Paris included Matthew Small and Graham Kitching, who scored one goal each. More assists for Paris came via Zack Skubnik, Tye Calder, and Richard Brooks, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Zach Schompe rejected 17 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. Team's Smith and Crumback were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
