Chippawa wins tough contest against Dundas, 4-3Niagara Jr. C Head Office Sat, Feb 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Chippawa Riverhawks escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Dundas Blues. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Matthew Baldinelli's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. With the win, Chippawa evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Kyle Robertson had a great game for the Riverhawks, netting two goals. Robertson's tallies came on the power play at 7:11 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 9:35 into the second to make the score 2-1 Chippawa. Chippawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes. Dundas was unable to stop the Riverhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Chippawa eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Mitch Sawatzky also scored for Chippawa. More assists for Chippawa came via Colin Dunne, Adam Quait, Dylan Lazarus, and Drew trendle, who each chipped in one. The Blues' offense rang up 31 shots on the Riverhawks' net. Dundas was helped by Cam McConnell, who grabbed one goal. McConnell scored 19:35 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kevin Jaczenko assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Dundas included Alex Panov and Thomas Dowling, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Cody Carey, Nick McMullen, and Braxton Andrews, who contributed one a piece. Chippawa's Dunne stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Riverhawks registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Brock Novak made 32 saves for the Blues on 36 shots. Dundas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
