Dunnville penalty kill dominates in 7-2 defeat of GlanbrookDunnville Memorial Arena Fri, Feb 07, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' penalty kill was superb, as Dunnville survived multiple penalties to beat the Glanbrook Rangers, 7-2. The win gave the Jr. Mudcats a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Dunnville was led by Tyler Springer, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Springer scored 6:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville. Dan Arrowsmith provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:04 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Jr. Mudcats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Dunnville forced Glanbrook goalie Matthew Venturelli to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The defensemen of the Jr. Mudcats were also effective in the Rangers' zone, and came away with two goals. Dunnville also got points from Austin Golding, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Evan Huckalo, who also registered one goal and one assist, Trevor Smith, who also had one goal and one assist, and Mack Steele, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Steven Czepek also scored for Dunnville. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Jordan Bolibrook, who had three and Davis Hart, Jeff May, Landon Minor, and Hayden Molen, who each chipped in one. Glanbrook was led by Joel Tivanian, who had one goal and one assist. Tivanian scored 17:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Colin Elder picked up the assist. Glanbrook also got a goal from Keifer MacInness as well. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Brad Parish, who had one. Jesse Schoeman made 18 saves for Dunnville on 20 shots. The Jr. Mudcats totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. For Dunnville, Smith was ejected from the game. Venturelli recorded 25 saves for the Rangers. Glanbrook ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Buddy MacLean was ejected from the game.
