The Glanbrook Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, which beat Rangers, 5-2.

The win gave Dunnville a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Jr. Mudcats got the win behind a great game by Jeff May, who had one goal and two assists. May scored on the power play 12:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dunnville. A high sticking penalty on Brian Robson had put Dunnville on the power play. Mack Steele picked up the assist.

The Jr. Mudcats' penalty kill excelled, as Dunnville gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Jr. Mudcats cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. The defensemen of Dunnville were also effective in Glanbrook's zone, and came away with two goals.

Dunnville additionally got points from Steele, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Landon Minor, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Dunnville included Austin Golding, Evan Capobianco, and Trevor Smith, who each put in one. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Bret Golding, Evan Huckalo, and Tyler Springer, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers were helped by Derek Vanenberg, who finished with one goal. Vanenberg scored 7:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dunnville. Drew Jedrzejewicz also scored for Glanbrook. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Curtis Edwards and Jay Creen, who contributed one a piece.

Josh Rosettani recorded 25 saves for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Matthew Venturelli made 25 saves for Glanbrook on 30 shots. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
