Grimsby blows out Port Dover, 6-0Peach King Arena Wed, Feb 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Port Dover Sailors, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 6-0 win. The win by Grimsby clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Matthew Paonessa was all over the ice for the Peach Kings, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Paonessa scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Jordan McCarl picked up the assist. Paonessa's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Grimsby with 6:57 left in the second period. McCarl assisted on the tally. Grimsby also got points from Brennan Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Grimsby also got a goal from Colin Wierts as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Cooper Nauboris and Nicholas Purves, who each chipped in one and Nicholas Briggs and Andrew Kolodzey, who contributed two a piece. Mitch Mathieu recorded 19 saves for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Port Dover's Nathan McKinnon stopped 24 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
