The Port Dover Sailors almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Grimsby Peach Kings managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end. Grimsby led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Peach Kings' Andrew Kolodzey's scored at 6:07 in the second period to put Grimsby up 3-0. The win gave the Peach Kings a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Grimsby was led by goalie Josh Asterino, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The Peach Kings were led by Brennan Smith, who tallied one goal. Smith scored 9:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Mathew Paonessa assisted on the tally. Joshua Kozielski also scored for Grimsby. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Eric Cerino, Cooper Naugoris, Nicholas Briggs, Nicholas Purves, and Jordan McCarl, who each chipped in one. Port Dover stifled Grimsby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sailors were led by Ryan Oatway, who scored the team's only goal. Oatway scored on the power play 9:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Port Dover had taken the advantage when the Peach Kings' Briggs got sent off for tripping. Nick Deluca picked up the assist. Grimsby incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Peach Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and William Demers was ejected from the game. Bob Wilson rejected 22 shots on goal for the Sailors. Port Dover incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Sailors, Dalton Alford was ejected from the game.
