A hat trick by Alex Garon was the highlight in 73s' 7-0 win against the Wallaceburg Lakers. Garon's first goal came 7:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:13 into the first and at 8:05 into the second.The Essex 73s was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Essex averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. Wallaceburg was unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Essex eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The 73s' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Essex also got points from Tyler Scott, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Matthew Hebert, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Aaron Thibert as well. More assists for Essex came via Colin DeLaet, who had two, Corey Beaulieu, who had four, and Dallas Pereira and Jacob Kment, who each chipped in one. The Lakers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wallaceburg puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. Kment recorded 18 saves for Essex. The 73s ended with no penalties and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Lakers' Joel Sowinski stopped 43 shots out of the 50 that he faced. Wallaceburg incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
