Johnsson's hat trick boosts Phoenix Knights over Colorado Eagles, 7-2

Brennan Johnsson netted a hat trick to lead Phoenix Knights over Colorado Eagles, 7-2.

Johnsson got on the scoresheet 5:10 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:01 into the first and at 10:36 into the first.

Phoenix Knights scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

Colorado Eagles' power play was ineffective against Phoenix Knights' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Phoenix Knights made Colorado Eagles' goalies to work in net, finishing with 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Quinn Wold made three stops and Tage Rustgi made 29. Phoenix Knights stifled Colorado Eagles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Others who scored for Phoenix Knights included Max Mahood, who had two and Charlie Allen and Robert Crisci, who each put in one. In addition, Phoenix Knights received assists from Mitch Cobby, who had two, Jordan Cullum, who had three, and Robert Smith, Kelby Minshull, and Alex Taylor, who each chipped in one.

Colorado Eagles was held below its usual level of production. Colorado Eagles averages 4.1 goals per game. Colorado Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.

Colorado Eagles was led by Jackson Wallis, who had two goals. Wallis scored the first of his two goals at 13:42 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Phoenix Knights. Cody Dettmann picked up the assist. Wallis' next tally made the score 7-2 Phoenix Knights with 3:27 left in the third period.

Taylor recorded 20 saves for Phoenix Knights. Phoenix Knights incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
