xColorado Eagles outlasts Southern Oregon Spartans, 5-3

xColorado Eagles gutted out a close 5-3 win against Southern Oregon Spartans.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Scott Smoot at 8:00 of the third period.

Smoot had one goal and three assists to lead xColorado Eagles.

xColorado Eagles additionally got points from Nick Davidson, who also had two goals and one assist. xColorado Eagles also got a goal from Jackson Wallis as well. In addition, xColorado Eagles received assists from Levi Weber, who had two and Kyle Arenson, Lance Pennington, Luke Galatiuk, and Keegan Jenkins, who each chipped in one.

Southern Oregon Spartans' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Southern Oregon Spartans finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Southern Oregon Spartans was helped by Cy Jenson, who racked up one goal. Jenson scored 16:47 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Southern Oregon Spartans. Ben Henry picked up the assist. Southern Oregon Spartans also had goals scored by Trevor Hillman and Carl Edstrom, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Oregon Spartans were Ging Martin, Tyler Spencer, and Arturs Buss, who contributed one a piece.

xColorado Eagles' Eric Messer stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that he faced. xColorado Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Ian Dvorak made 17 saves for Southern Oregon Spartans on 22 shots. Southern Oregon Spartans registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
