Alvinston holds on for 4-3 win against Wheatley

The Wheatley Sharks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Alvinston Flyers held on for a 4-3 victory.

Alvinston made the score 4-2 on a goal by Karsten Berg at 6:57 in the third period, and Wheatley got as close as 4-3 when Jon Woelk scored 14:21 into the third period.

Berg had two goals to lead the Flyers to victory.

Alvinston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sharks to score on any of their five power plays.

Alvinston also got a goal from Kole Keating as well. More assists for Alvinston came via Tyler Kettler, who had two and Clint Rose, Dylan Ryan, Dan Warner, Zach VanEyk, and Jake McPhail, who contributed one a piece.

Wheatley additionally got points from Scott Florence, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brett Bowman also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Ryan Zsebok and Austin Fontaine, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers' Brett Avery stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Alvinston incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Everitt Omstead recorded 22 saves for Wheatley. The Sharks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
