xWhitby stifles Orangeville's comeback, gains 4-3 victory

The xWhitby Fury, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Orangeville Flyers and clinched a 4-3 victory.

xWhitby led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Fury's Taylor Best's scored on the power play at 2:08 in the second period to put xWhitby up 3-0.

The Fury were sparked by Greg Milner, who racked up one goal. Milner scored on the power play 14:09 into the third period to make the score 4-2 xWhitby. xWhitby had taken the advantage when Orangeville's Austin Kozluk got sent off for tripping. Adam Clements picked up the assist.

The Flyers were unable to stop the Fury from sending pucks towards the net, and xWhitby eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Fury was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

xWhitby also got points from Best, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for xWhitby included Mike Panowyk and Ryan Kirkup, who scored one goal each. In addition, xWhitby received assists from Henry Thompson, Jonathan OHara, Jeff Murray, Jeremy Wu, and Mitch Emerson, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville forced xWhitby goalie Tyler Feaver to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Flyers were helped by Lucas Smilsky, who finished with one goal. Smilsky scored 7:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 xWhitby. Emmerson Small assisted on the tally. Orangeville also had goals scored by Connor Stack and Peter Stepanis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Jason Smith, who had one.

Feaver recorded 29 saves for the Fury. xWhitby incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Wyatt Pickrell made 40 saves for Orangeville on 44 shots. The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
