xWellington survives xWhitby comeback, wins 3-2

The xWellington Dukes survived a determined comeback attempt by the xWhitby Fury on the way to a 3-2 win.

xWellington made the score 3-0 on a goal by Erick Delaurentis at 7:42 in the second period, and xWhitby got as close as 3-2 when Patrick McAuliffe scored 7:04 into the third period.

Delaurentis had two goals to lead the Dukes to victory.

Josh Supryka also scored for xWellington. In addition, xWellington received assists from Trevor Cope, who had two and Jacob Hetherington, Mike Robinson, Abbott Girduckis, and Kyle Paat, who each chipped in one.

The Fury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. xWhitby did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Fury average 4.2 goals per game. xWellington was unable to stop xWhitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

xWhitby also got a goal from Jeff Murray as well. More assists for xWhitby came via Mike Panowyk, Ryan Kirkup, Henry Thompson, and Taylor Best, who contributed one a piece.

Tyson Teichmann made 33 saves for the Dukes on 35 shots. xWellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Boyd Diclemente rejected 26 shots on goal for xWhitby. The Fury incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
