Huge game by Villeneuve boosts Almonte Thunder over Perth Blue Wings, 5-2

Almonte Thunder's Nick Villeneuve had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over Perth Blue Wings.

Villeneuve scored 2:17 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Almonte Thunder. Terry Mallon assisted on the tally. Villeneuve dished an assist on Mallon's goal that made the score 1-0 Almonte Thunder at 17:59 into the first period. He added another helper on Jordan Bosely's goal that made the score 5-0 Almonte Thunder at 14:10 into the second period.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:11 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Almonte Thunder excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Almonte Thunder additionally got points from Mallon, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Almonte Thunder included Luke Martin and Brendan Rousselle, who each put in one. More assists for Almonte Thunder came via Andrew Rowbotham, who had one and Riley Shore, who had two.

Perth Blue Wings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Almonte Thunder power plays.

Arun Kumar rejected 19 shots on goal for Almonte Thunder. Almonte Thunder incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Team's Brock Saunders and Rousselle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Perth Blue Wings' Cam Lerner stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Perth Blue Wings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Perth Blue Wings, Andrew Davis and Steven Plescia were ejected from the contest.
