Brockville uses shootout to best Cornwall, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Brockville overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Braves trailed 2-1 after a goal by Cornwall's Marly Quince at 3:11 in the third period. Brockville tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Andrew Peski at 18:33 in the third period.

The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cornwall power plays. Brockville's offense rang up 31 shots on the Colts' net.

Brockville also got a goal from Sean King as well. More assists for Brockville came via Eric Israel, Jonathan Power, Nathan Todd, and Cory Wilson, who each chipped in one.

Cornwall managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Colts finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

Tanner Spink also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Matthew Cruickshank, Jackson Thompson, Ryan Patulli, and Kevin Hope, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Pikul made 21 saves for the Braves on 23 shots. Brockville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. James Edwardson rejected 28 shots on goal for Cornwall.
