Valencia Flyers rides Becica to victory over Southern Oregon Spartans, 6-1

Mark Becica had a standout game with 27 saves, and Valencia Flyers beat Southern Oregon Spartans 6-1.

Valencia Flyers was led by Jared Waldman, who had one goal and one assist. Waldman scored short handed 12:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Valencia Flyers. Valencia Flyers played down a man on Niklas Giers's cross checking. Sam Basich picked up the assist.

Valencia Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Southern Oregon Spartans to score on any of its five power plays. Valencia Flyers forced Southern Oregon Spartans goalie Jiri Ponikelsky to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Valencia Flyers outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Valencia Flyers averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Valencia Flyers also got points from Blake Aguilar, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Valencia Flyers included Dillon Thomas, Adam Papayoanou, Jakob Kranabetter, and Evan Johnson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Valencia Flyers were Luc Whyte, who had two and Jason Hart, Wil Barnett, and Chase Thesman, who contributed one a piece.
