Billings downs Glacier, 8-2

Joseph Mata finished with two points to lead the Billings Bulls to an 8-2 victory over Glacier.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:16 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Billings' offense rang up 44 shots on Glacier's net. The Bulls surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Billings averages 4.7 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Bulls were also effective in Glacier's zone, and came away with two goals.

Billings additionally got points from Matt Myers, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dexter Nealy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Bryce Jensen, who also had one goal and one assist. Billings also had goals scored by Cody Phillips, who had two and Colter Endy and Josh Pena, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Christian Akita, Sam Orth, Aaron Rio, and Conner Brady, who each chipped in one and Tristen Heinrichs and Nik Nasby, who contributed two a piece.

Glacier forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Glacier had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Glacier was helped by Karson Frisk, who finished with one goal. Frisk scored 24:59 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Billings. Shane Archuleta provided the assist. Brett Fernandez also scored for Glacier. More assists for Glacier came via Tyler Latimer, who had one.

Daniel Oordt took the win and made seven saves before being replaced by Cole Semchak who made 17 saves. Billings totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 3-for-6 on the power play. The Bulls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Heinrichs was ejected from the game. Glacier's Ethan Wiese stopped 36 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Glacier registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Glacier, Austin Svingen was ejected from the game.
